How can I know God?

Our need for salvation

Sin separates us from God; all have sinned and fall short of his glory (Romans 3:23). Salvation begins with God’s love and mercy, not our ability to make ourselves worthy.

Jesus Christ: cross and resurrection

God loved the world and gave his Son (John 3:16). Jesus died for our sins and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:3–4). In him God offers forgiveness and new life.

Repentance and faith

Jesus calls us to repent and believe the gospel (Mark 1:15). Turn toward God, confess your need and trust Jesus Christ. Salvation is by grace through faith, not earned by works (Ephesians 2:8–10). Romans 10:9–13 describes confessing Jesus as Lord and believing that God raised him from the dead.

Assurance and a new beginning

Jesus welcomes those who come to him (John 6:37). First John 5:11–13 points believers to life in God’s Son. Read Scripture, pray, learn with other Christians and seek a faithful local church (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:24–25). Speak with a pastor about baptism and taking your next steps.

Finding a church

Look for a church that teaches Scripture, proclaims Christ’s death and resurrection, practices accountable pastoral care and welcomes questions. Visit, speak with its leaders and ask about its statement of faith. Use our church search to open local map listings, then confirm the church’s beliefs and practical details directly.
